Biography David A. Adler

David Abraham Adler, an American children’s author, was born in New York City in 1947. After graduating from Queens College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and education, he worked as a mathematics teacher for the New York City Board of Education. During this time, he also pursued a master’s degree in marketing from New York University. In 1971, a question from his three-year-old nephew inspired Adler to write his first story, A Little at a Time, which was subsequently published by Random House in 1976. He went on to create his most famous character, Cam Jansen, and has since authored numerous books for children. Adler’s sons have also become involved in his writing, and he now lives in Woodmere, New York with his family.
