Biography Elizabeth Moon

Elizabeth Moon, born on March 7, 1945, in McAllen, Texas, is a well-accomplished author with a diverse educational and professional background. After graduating from McAllen High School in 1963, she went on to earn a B.A. in History from Rice University in 1968, followed by another B.A. in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1975, with additional graduate work in Biology at the University of Texas, San Antonio. Moon also served in the USMC from 1968 to 1971 and has been married to Richard Moon since 1969. Together, they moved to a small central Texas town in 1979 where they still reside, and have one son born in 1983. Moon began writing stories and poems at a young age and discovered her passion for science fiction while in high school. It wasn’t until the 1980s that she took her writing seriously, eventually achieving widespread success with her works, including the award-winning novel, “Sheepfarmer’s Daughter,” and other notable accolades throughout her career.
